What are the defects?
Due to a manufacturing defect, the low-pressure fuel pump impeller may become deformed and interfere with the pump casing, causing the fuel pump to become inoperative. If this occurs, the engine could stall resulting in a sudden loss of motive power.
What are the hazards?
A sudden loss of motive power whilst driving may increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and/or other road users.
What should consumers do?
Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by their Lotus dealer to arrange an appointment and have the work carried out free of charge.
