What are the defects?
Due to a manufacturing defect, the fuel tank strap may not have been adequately secured to the frame rail and could detach from the vehicle while driving. This could cause fuel to leak and, in the presence of an external ignition source, result in a vehicle fire.
What are the hazards?
A vehicle fire could increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users and bystanders, and/or damage to property.
What should consumers do?
Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted in writing by Ford, requesting they contact an authorised Ford dealer to arrange inspection and repair, free of charge.
