What are the defects?
Due to an assembly issue, the powertrain CAN wiring harness may chafe against its protective sleeve and become damaged. This may prevent the transmission control module from operating as intended, resulting in an inability to change gears, a loss of motive power while driving and/or failure to restart the engine.
What are the hazards?
An inability to change gears, loss of motive power while driving or failure to restart the engine could increase the risk of an accident causing serious injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.
What should consumers do?
Once parts become available, owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by Daimler Truck asking them to book an appointment with their authorised dealer to have the rectification carried out, free of charge.
