What are the defects?

Due to a manufacturing defect, vehicles may be fitted with cargo barriers that have the middle seat belt bracket installed in an incorrect orientation. As a result, the middle seatbelt may not operate as intended, when in use.

What are the hazards?

The middle rear seat belt may not function as intended in the event of a collision due to the incorrect orientation of the middle seat belt bracket. If the seat belt does not operate correctly, it may increase the risk of serious injury or death to the vehicle occupant.

What should consumers do?

Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted in writing by Subaru Australia requesting they make an appointment at their preferred Subaru dealer to rectify the vehicle, free of charge.
