What are the defects?
Due to a manufacturing defect, the side curtain airbags may interact with the B-pillar trim during inflation and not deploy as intended. If this occurs, the B-pillar ramp may detach and become a projectile.
What are the hazards?
In the event of an accident, airbags not deploying as intended and/or detached particles being propelled into the vehicle could increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants.
What should consumers do?
Once a remedy becomes available, Ford will contact affected owners in writing requesting they contact an Authorised Ford Dealer to have their vehicle rectified, free of charge.
