What are the defects?
Due to a manufacturing defect, the ignition lock cylinder may experience premature wear caused by vibration. If this occurs, it could result in loss of electrical systems or motive power whilst riding.
What are the hazards?
A loss of motive power while riding or an unexpected loss of electrical systems could increase the risk of an accident, resulting in serious injury or death to the rider, passenger and/or other road users.
What should consumers do?
Once a remedy becomes available, owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by BMW Motorrad and advised to contact their authorised dealer to have the rectification completed, free of charge.
