What are the defects?
Due to a manufacturing issue, vehicles with 8F57 transmission may contain an Electronic One-Way Clutch Assembly built with an unseated snap ring. This may cause an unexpected loss of first and/or reverse gear resulting in a sudden loss of forward or reverse movement of the vehicle.
What are the hazards?
A sudden loss of forward or reverse movement of the vehicle while driving could increase the risk of serious injury or death to occupants and other road users.
What should consumers do?
Ford will write to owners of affected vehicles requesting that they contact an authorised Ford dealer to arrange an inspection and repair, free of charge.
