What are the defects?

Some steering parts such as the tie rod and drag link, may not have been properly hardened during manufacturing. This could cause cracking or fracturing particularly during low-speed manoeuvres and may lead to a loss of steering control.

What are the hazards?

A sudden loss of steering control whilst driving could increase the risk of an accident, causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and/or other road users.

What should consumers do?

When parts become available, owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by Daimler Truck asking them to schedule an appointment with their authorised dealer to have the rectification carried out, free of charge.
In the meantime, if the driver notices unusual steering response or noises, the vehicle must be safely parked and contact the nearest authorised dealership immediately.
