What are the defects?
On certain UD Trucks, the rear axle lock washer may dislodge and chafe against the hub cover. If this occurs, it could generate metal powder, causing bearing seizure, abnormal noise and in the worst-case scenario the tyres may overheat leading to a vehicle fire.
What are the hazards?
A vehicle fire could increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users, bystanders, and/or cause property damage.
What should consumers do?
Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by Volvo group requesting to schedule an appointment to have the vehicle inspected and immediately rectified free of charge.
