What are the defects?
Due to a manufacturing defect, the engine crankcase fastening bolts may have been overtightened. This could result in seizure of the crankshaft bearing material, abnormal noise and engine stalling leading to a sudden loss of motive power whilst riding.
What are the hazards?
A loss of motive power whilst riding increases the risk of an accident, causing serious injury or death to rider and/or passenger and other road users.
What should consumers do?
Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by Kawasaki in writing asking them to schedule an appointment with their Kawasaki local authorised dealer to have the vehicle inspected and repaired, free of charge.
