What are the defects?

Due to a manufacturing defect, excessive heat from the exhaust may soften the paint around the gear change pivot bolt. If this occurs, the bolt may become loose and the gear shift pedal could detach preventing the rider from being able to change gears.

What are the hazards?

A failure to changing gears whilst riding could increase the risk of an accident and injury or death to rider(s) and other road users.

What should consumers do?

Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by Honda Australia Motorcycles asking them to schedule an appointment to have the work carried out, free of charge.
