What are the defects?

Due to a manufacturing defect, the outer head restraints of the rear row seats may not be manufactured correctly. As a result, they may move or detach from the seat in an event of an accident.

What are the hazards?

If the head restraints move or become detached, it could increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants.

What should consumers do?

Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by BMW requesting that they schedule an appointment immediately with their preferred authorised BMW dealer to replace the outer head restraints on the rear row of seats, free of charge.
