What are the defects?
Due to a software issue, the Hybrid Powertrain Control Module (HPCM) may inadvertently shift to neutral while driving, come to a stop and automatically shifting to “Park”. If this occurs and the driver shifts back into drive, the vehicle will enter a limp home mode which provides limited torque at low speeds.
What are the hazards?
The vehicle coasting to a stop whilst driving or loss of motive power could increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and/or other road users.
What should consumers do?
Owners will be contacted in writing requesting they contact an Authorised Ford Dealer to have their vehicle rectified, free of charge.
For further information, contact any authorised Ford Dealer or Ford Customer Relationship Centre on 13 FORD (13 3673).
