What are the defects?
Due to a manufacturing issue, the cell modules installed in the high voltage battery may be defective. A short circuit could cause a thermal overload and result in a vehicle fire over time. The potential defect can be determined with an initial check.
What are the hazards?
A vehicle fire could increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users and bystanders, and/or damage to property.
What should consumers do?
Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by Audi Australia, asking to schedule an appointment at your nearest authorised Audi dealership to have the battery inspected. If the inspection reveals no defects, no further action is necessary for the vehicle. However, if any potential defects are detected, Audi will arrange the repair of the vehicle, free of charge.
Note: We urgently ask owners to temporarily charge the high-voltage battery to a maximum of 80%. This minimises the potential risk described above and also protects the battery.
