What are the defects?

Due to a calibration issue within the Vehicle Control Module (VCM), when driving at low speeds the vehicle may falsely detect reflective objects such as metal walls, barriers or similar objects on the side of the road as an approaching object. This may trigger an unintended brake activation.

What are the hazards?

Unintended brake activation could increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.

What should consumers do?

Remedial activity is currently under preparation. Once available Mazda Australia will contact all affected customers to advise them to present their vehicle to their preferred Mazda Dealer to update the Vehicle Control Module with a revised calibration at no charge.
