What are the defects?

Due to a manufacturing defect, some track rods (between left and right wheel of the steered axle/s) were manufactured without the slots at the end of it. If the slot is missing, the clamping force of the clamp between the ball joint and the track rod will be low. This may result in a loss of vehicle control.

What are the hazards?

A loss of vehicle control increases the risk of an accident causing serious injuries or death to the vehicle occupants and/or other road users.

What should consumers do?

Scania Australia will contact all affected owners. Owners are advised to contact their Scania dealer or branch as soon as possible to make an appointment to have the repairs carried out, free of charge.
