Product description:

2 Tonne override coupling used on trailers to attach the trailer to the tow vehicle. These couplings have the letters 'ECO' cast in to the coupling body

What are the defects?

Under heavy use the coupling head and coupling shaft may develop slackness. This may create extra stress on the locking pin which may shear. The shaft could then rotate in the coupling head, unscrew and detach.

What are the hazards?

If the coupling head unscrews and detaches from the coupling shaft, only the safety chains will attach the trailer to the tow vehicle and this can create an unstable tow situation, which could poses an accident hazard to the driver and other road users.

What should consumers do?

Consumer should inspect the coupling for evidence of excessive wear and contact their place of purchase to receive a replacement.

Who should owners/operators contact for more information?

Various Boating Dealers
