What are the defects?

During routine investigations, Volvo have identified early wear on the auxiliary belt tensioner in some vehicles.

What are the hazards?

If the deviation occurs there may be a loud noise and in the worst case scenario, it may lead to a loss of drive resulting in immobility of the vehicle and sudden loss of power steering assistance. This may pose a hazard to the driver and other road users.

What should consumers do?

A letter is being sent to affected owners.

Please contact your local Volvo dealership to arrange for an inspection and replacement of the auxiliary belt tensioner, if necessary.
