What are the defects?

A poor quality weld between the drum and end plate sections of the fuel tank could crack, resulting in a fuel leak.

What are the hazards?

If fuel comes into contact with a heat source, it may ignite, resulting in an engine fire that may cause serious injury or death of vehicle occupants and/or other road users.

What should consumers do?

Owners should contact an Authorised Daimler Commercial Vehicle Dealer to make a booking to have their fuel tank inspected and replaced free of charge, if required.
