What are the defects?
The subject vehicles may be fitted with a faulty airbag inflator that could allow moisture to enter the unit and degrade the airbag propellant. As a result, the propellant may not react as intended during an accident, causing mis-deployment of the airbag.
What are the hazards?
In the event of an accident, the airbag inflator could rupture, compressed gas and metal fragments may be propelled through the airbag cushion towards the vehicle occupants causing serious injury or death.
What should consumers do?
Owners of affected vehicles should stop driving immediately and contact RPI to organise their free urgent vehicle repair with replacement parts.
