What are the defects?

The existing labelling of the Jack does not fully comply with the requirements of the mandatory consumer product safety standard for vehicle jacks based on Australian/New Zealand Standard AS/NZ 2693:2003 - Vehicle Jacks ("vehicle jack safety standard").

What are the hazards?

The Jacks are specialised vehicle jacks that are suitable only for Jayco's caravan models Poptop Standard and Outback, Caravan Standard and Outback, Camper Standard and Outback and Expanda Standard and Outback. The jacks were supplied from 1 December 2005 as an accessory with a new caravan.

What should consumers do?

Jayco will write to all affected Jayco caravan owners currently on its data base and provide correct labels. The letter will explain how to affix the replacement labels. There is no charge for these new labels. If a Jayco caravan owner does not receive a letter by 30 November 2007, or does not have their contact details registered with Jayco, or has bought a used Jayco caravan they should contact Jayco to arrange for a label to be sent to them. Further information is available from the Jayco Recall Co-ordinator, Mr Paul Morgan on telephone number 03 9791 6599.
